Integrity becomes Washington University’s technology partner in wellness research
The Washington University School of Medicine is kicking off a new research initiative and we're proud to announce our role in developing the technology to support the study.
The five-year study is funded by a $3 million grant from the National Institute of Health and will focus on why workers in certain occupations – specifically food service, housekeeping and patient care – participate in workplace wellness programs at a lower rate than those in other occupations.
The study hopes not only to uncover the reasons behind this lower participation rate but also to find new ways of engaging these workers in weight loss programs.
Our involvement in the project is a continuation of an ongoing partnership with Washington University that began with our redesign of the Siteman Cancer Center's website and selection as one of the university's preferred digital agencies.
We'll play the part of the research team's technology partner, developing digital tools for use in the phase of the study focused on finding new ways to increase worker participation in weight loss programs. Our work will help the team test the overall effectiveness of text message-based technology in getting workers engaged in these programs.
"Our team loves this type of challenge," says Integrity Partner and Chief Creative Officer Ed Morrissey. "We get to geek out using the latest web technologies – like Node.js, Amazon Web Services (AWS) Lambda and Twilio's integrated text messaging services – while leveraging our expertise in healthcare and human computer interaction (HCI) to gain insights into how technology can positively impact the health habits of users."
We're excited to be a part of this major research study and will work closely with the Washington University School of Medicine as we provide ongoing technological support throughout the program's duration.
