Integrity’s John Simanowitz brings usability expertise to St. Louis hackathon

JohnThis month, our SAP lovin' technology partner, EV Technologies, hosted their first ever St. Louis SAP Analytics User Group Meeting.

The meeting included a hackathon at Washington University to benefit the Clark Fox Family Foundation, and our very own Partner and CEO John Simanowitz was invited to serve as a mentor and judge (and fellow nerd).

The goal of the hackathon was to give participating teams the chance to use SAP's business intelligence tools to build insightful reporting systems. The team to create the best system was named winner.

"John is always saying brilliant things like 'systems should be equal parts beautiful and useful,'" said EV Technologies Managing Partner Eric Vallo. "I knew he could bring that kind of creative expertise to the table, helping the participants – who are unaccustomed to considering the creative side of analytics – see things from new perspectives."

As a judge, Simanowitz helped the teams find ways to overcome obstacles by offering creative advice rooted in his web application usability expertise. He then reviewed the systems and, along with other judges, selected the winner.

"The partnership between EV Technologies and Integrity is all about combining our user experience skills with their SAP analytics expertise to create functional, beautiful and always user-friendly applications," said Simanowitz. "The hackathon was another chance for us to demonstrate the outcome of that awesome combo."
